India Times –  One of world’s most-built jet, MiG-21 was born in mid-50s out of Russia’s post-World war II ambitions in a divided world. The small, agile, stylish fighter soon crowded skies of Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America. In 1963 the first batch of MiG-21s entered Indian Air Force, as part of a strategy to take on Pakistan’s Starfighters from the United States and to meet the challenges from China. Till date some 13,000 of them have built in Russia and in many countries like India under licence, and in countries like China without it.
